Most GTA 6 coverage is about what we know. This is the other list — the one that gets shorter every few weeks and is still, 101 days from launch, remarkably long. Understanding what Rockstar hasn't announced about GTA 6 is the single most useful defence against the flood of confident nonsense filling the gap.

Everything below is genuinely unconfirmed as of August 10, 2026. Not "leaked." Not "reportedly." Unannounced.

The Big One: Online

Rockstar has said essentially nothing about GTA 6's multiplayer. Not the name, not the structure, not whether it launches with the game, not whether it is a separate download, not the business model, not whether progress or currency carries over from GTA Online.

What exists instead is inference. Datamined Xbox Store entries reportedly split GTA 6 into multiple listings, hinting at separate packaging. Rockstar posted a run of "Creator Platform" job listings in London, New York and Scotland citing dedicated servers, UGC tooling and UGC monetisation — widely read as FiveM technology becoming an official community-server platform, possibly on console for the first time. Both are real. Neither is an announcement, and we treat them that way in our GTA 6 Online overview and the Creator Platform breakdown.

A game launching in 101 days has not described its multiplayer. That is the headline unknown.

The PC Version

Not announced. No date, no window, no acknowledgement that it exists. Rockstar has historically shipped PC versions after the console launch, and Take-Two's CEO has spoken about the reasoning behind a console-first approach, but there is no PC release date to know. Anything presented as one is invented. Our PC release page tracks the actual state of play.

Performance, Loading and Install

A cluster of things players will care about enormously on day one, none of which Rockstar has stated:

Core Game Systems Nobody Has Described

This is the category most likely to catch people out, because these mechanics are so standard that their absence from the record feels impossible. Unannounced anyway:

SystemStatus
Death, respawn, Wasted / Busted behaviourUnannounced
Hospital fees or death penaltiesUnannounced
Mission checkpoints and retry flowUnannounced
Reviving a downed Jason or LuciaUnannounced
Stock market (BAWSAQ / LCN return)Unannounced
Barbershops, wardrobes, grooming systemsUnannounced
ParachutesUnannounced — and there has never been a wingsuit in any GTA
Named law enforcement agenciesUnannounced
Any individual vehicle modelUnannounced
Radio station lineup or licensed tracksUnannounced
Story length or mission countUnannounced

That parachute line surprises people. Every 3D-era GTA has had one, so it is a reasonable expectation — but expectation is not confirmation, as covered in our parachuting explainer.

The Marketing Calendar

There is exactly one scheduled information event between now and launch: Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, premiering on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27 and free on Rockstar's YouTube and rockstargames.com/VI at 9 p.m. ET the same day.

Everything after that is blank. Not announced:

Business Details Still Open

What This List Is For

Two things.

First, calibration. When you see a headline stating a GTA 6 install size, frame rate, radio station or online release date as fact, this list tells you instantly that it cannot be sourced to Rockstar. The volume of fabricated material — including AI-generated "leaked gameplay" — is at an all-time high heading into August 27, and our fake leak guide covers how the current generation of fakes works.

Second, expectation setting. The Extended Look cannot answer all of the above in one video. If it is structured like a Netflix show, as Take-Two's CEO has indicated, it may answer very few of them directly. Going in expecting a spec sheet is a good way to be disappointed by something that is probably excellent at what it actually is.

For Contrast: What Is Confirmed

Short version, so the list above is not read as "we know nothing":

November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. $79.99 standard, $99.99 Ultimate. Preload November 12. Dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos with character switching. The state of Leonida, six regions, a map 2.4–2.7x GTA V's, 700+ enterable interiors, 200+ vehicles with interactive interiors. A six-star wanted system, prone crawling, zip ties, human shields, an in-game smartphone. Ray-traced global illumination and reflections, strand-based hair, dynamic clothing.

That is a substantial game. It is also, conspicuously, a list with no multiplayer, no PC, and no performance figures in it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has GTA 6 Online been announced?

No. Rockstar has not announced a multiplayer mode, its name, its structure, or whether it launches alongside the single-player game.

Is there a confirmed GTA 6 file size?

No. Any install-size figure in circulation is unverified. Our download size page explains what can reasonably be estimated and what cannot.

Will GTA 6 run at 60fps?

Unannounced. Rockstar has confirmed no frame rate targets or performance modes on any platform.

Why haven't any journalists played GTA 6 yet?

No press preview programme has happened. As of August 10, 2026 — 101 days before launch — nobody outside Rockstar has publicly reported playing or being shown the game, which is unusually late compared with GTA V and RDR2.

The Bottom Line

Rockstar has confirmed a lot about GTA 6 and left an enormous amount unsaid, including its entire multiplayer offering, its PC plans, and every performance figure players will care about on day one. That silence is where fake leaks live. Bookmark the unknowns, and let August 27 shorten the list.
